Rose City Hall

Mayor’s Message: With many important issues coming up in the City of Rose City and Ogemaw County please, remember it is important to be a registered voter. The power is with the people but you must vote. I am asking the citizens of Rose City to support our local business all you can. Remember the Farmers Market; we want to make sure they are a permanent part of our City. This support is good for everyone. I am asking for community involvement. Shake things up. Get excited. Get involved. Support your community; help your neighbors when they are in need. Let’s make Rose City the Place to Live!

City Happenings: On March 22nd at 1 p.m., the City will hold a Bonfire and Hotdog roast in the Metcalf Park (Mill Pond) please come and join in on the fun. The Rose City/Lupton Summer Ball League will be playing its regular season on Cleveland Field starting May 1st until July 31st be sure to attend a game! Rose City Lions will once again be hosting their annual 4th of July Festival including parade, raffle, games, entertainment, food booths and the best fireworks in the area! Huron Pines Project: Through a grant obtained by Huron Pines they will be installing a Stormwater Treatment Unit in Rose City. This unit will be fitted to the existing storm sewer system and will serve to filter stormwater run off; they are expecting completion the end of July. Rose City and Huron Pines have teamed up to install rain gardens in the City Park. Huron Pines will organize and manage a May 23rd volunteer workday to help install native plants in rain gardens. As part of the agreement, the City of Rose City DPW will implement a maintenance program, potentially with voluntary assistance from local residents, businesses and organizations, to maintain the rain gardens. If you would like to volunteer for the May 23rd work day there is a sign-up sheet at City Hall.

City Issues: Rose City now has an official website up and running. Be sure to go to and check out all of the information we have there for you.

The City of Rose City is asking everyone to work on cleaning up their yards in April and May and continue on the rest of the year. For your convenience you may place large items out by the road and D.P.W. workers will pick them up. In addition, please remember that The City of Rose City now has an agreement with the City of West Branch to use their Recycling Services. Before your first use you will need to sign up for a card (one time only) at West Branch City Hall, 121 N. Forth St., West Branch information is available at City Hall. We are also including a copy of the new Weed Control Ordinance that is now in effect. The City would also like to remind you that in accordance with the Fire Ordinance leaf burning is not allowed, leaves should be bagged and set out for pick up by the DPW, you can also bundle branches for pick up. The only burning allowed is a domestic campfire in a fire ring. Let us work together and show our community pride in Rose City’s appearance. Remember you can get a copy of any ordinance at City Hall; they are also now available on the official City website.
